Transportation
Located in the center of the Southeastern United States, Webster County is within 500 miles of over 75 major metropolitan areas representing more than one-third of the nation's population. Highways, air and water provide convenient access to many of the Southeast’s and Midwest's major cities and commerce centers. This makes shipping, receiving and business travel more convenient and less costly.
Highways
- Interstate 55, running along the north-south corridor from Illinois to Louisiana, is located about 25 miles west and is connected to Webster County by four-lane US Highway 82.
- Interstate 20, a major east-west transportation artery is linked to Webster County by Mississippi Highway 15.
- US Highway 82, a four-lane east-west transportation artery runs along the southern border of Webster County.
- The Natchez Trace Parkway offers a scenic, non-commercial route from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN.
Air
- The Eupora/Webster County Airport is a lighted, 3,000 foot general aviation airport. Each year improvements are added to the airport infrastructure.
- Commercial air flights are available only 40 minutes away at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, and the Jackson International Airport is within an easy two hour drive.
Water
- The Tennessee-Tombigbeee Waterway can be accessed 45 miles to the east at the Lowndes County Port. This waterway offers an extensive network of both deep-water and inland ports within the region, providing economical and efficient intermodal transportation services.
- Access to the Mississippi River at the Greenville Port is just 110 miles to the west and is linked to Webster County by four-lane US Highway 82.
Pending Rail Service
- Webster County has joined forces with 7 other counties to form a Regional Railroad Authority that will assist the Columbus and Greenville Railroad in a revitalization effort to get the line back in service. The Columbus and Greenville Railroad is a Class III short line railroad that has just been purchased by the Genesee and Wyoming Railroad.
